Yab 0.39.2
Build 202610250831
Mouse wheel scrolling as smooth as Chrome, big Arc imports stay fast with extensions, and a clearer filter list screen.
Improved
Memory
Extensions take about 300 MB less memory with a heavy set installed.
Close the chat
Command-J again closes the chat column it opened, and Escape in an empty chat field closes it.
Numbers on every tab
Holding Command shows the number on every tab Command-1 to 9 opens, kept tabs included.
Search an address
Typing an address in the field also offers a search for it.
Small Window to full screen
Making a Small Window full screen moves its page into the main window, as in Arc.
Going full screen
Entering macOS full screen shows the page at its new size during the zoom instead of a stale corner.
Japanese and Chinese input
Placeholders in Yab's fields hide while you compose with an input method.
Mouse wheel
Each click of a mouse wheel scrolls smoothly over a fifth of a second, as in Chrome, instead of jumping.
Page edges
Pages bounce at their top and bottom edges again, as in Safari.
Narrower sidebar
The sidebar can be made as narrow as in Arc.
Translate
Translate Page works in Reading Mode, has a View menu item you can give a shortcut, can be stopped, and lists your languages first.
Delete from History
Right-click a page in History to delete it or everything from its site; selected pages delete together with Undo, and deletions reach your other Macs.
Smoother scrolling
Scrolling and WebGL pages use far less of the graphics chip with an opaque window color: Yab no longer blurs behind a window nothing can be seen through.
Questions in one window
A confirmation such as Delete Chat shows only in the window you asked from.
Big Arc imports
With thousands of kept tabs from Arc and a chatty extension like Grammarly or 1Password, Yab no longer pins a core and stops responding. Extensions see tabs once they are opened, as in Arc.
Dark Page in Theme
View › Theme now holds Dark Page under System, Light and Dark.
Filter lists
Settings › Privacy shows each filter list by its real name, what it blocks and its rule count; your own lists have Update, Copy Address and Remove; a pasted list is checked before Add.
Fixed
Sleeping tabs
Put Tab to Sleep works on a page that is still loading, and its spinner stops.
Glass
Picking Glass on the transparency slider gives one trackpad knock, not two.
Full screen video
Cmd-T, Cmd-L, Control-Tab and Cmd-1 to 9 work while a video is full screen: it closes first, as in Safari.
Private windows
A private window no longer shows your spaces in its sidebar, menus or title.
Crash
Fixed a crash when hovering a call or video window's buttons while a spelling correction showed; their key hints show again.
Extensions
Color picker extensions get their screen magnifier: pages and extensions can use EyeDropper, as in Chrome.
Downloads
Yab's Dock icon shows a progress bar while files download, as Safari's does.
Little Window
Typing a pinned or open site in Little Window's field opens it there instead of switching the main window.
Copy buttons
Copy buttons on sites like ChatGPT work on macOS 27 with extensions installed.
Sidebar
New Tab stays readable when the window wears a gray site color.
Reload
Reload Without Cache starts at once instead of waiting seconds on a big cache.
Address bar
A typed address that only works with www. (or without it) opens anyway, as in Chrome, and Yab remembers the name that works.
Downloads
Download Video in a video's menu saves it to Downloads and Files, streamed videos too; one that can't be saved says so.
Disk space
Yab no longer grows without end: caches of sites you haven't opened in two weeks are cleared (sign-ins stay), and history pictures keep to 150 MB.
Chat
A click anywhere on the chat field puts the cursor in, also after you come back from another app.
Folders
A big folder opens as quickly as a small one, and the rows below slide away and back instead of vanishing.
Password managers
Copying a password or email from a password manager's menu on a page works, as in Chrome.
Leaving a page
A page with unsaved changes asks before it closes, reloads or goes elsewhere, as in Safari; Stay keeps it with what you typed.
Full screen video
A video goes full screen from a full-screen window without a black flash: it grows from its place instead of sliding to a new desktop.
Mouse wheel
A mouse wheel scrolls Netflix and other pages that listen to the wheel again, as a trackpad does.
Many tabs
Picking a tab with hundreds open is quicker: the menu bar no longer rebuilds the window on every pick.
Reading Mode
Leave and Aa in the corner wear the reading theme's light or dark, so a dark page never gets a white plate.
Sharing a tab
A shared tab with text stays sharp in calls instead of being shrunk to under half its size.
Eagle extension
Save to Eagle works again, from the menu and by dragging.
Bilibili picture in picture
Videos on bilibili float on their own when you leave Yab, as on YouTube.
Go To a selected address
Right-click on a selected address shows Go To once and in place, also for addresses ending in a period, in brackets or inside a link.
Purchases kept a core busy
With big mail accounts, Purchases no longer rereads every mail every ten minutes; Yab stays near idle in the background.
Open tabs in folders
A collapsed folder keeps its open tabs visible under it, as in Arc.
Stopped downloads
Stopping a download deletes its unfinished file.
Crash on card forms
Yab no longer quits when a page reports an impossible card expiry date.
