Yab 0.44.0
One switch for AI, tabs dragged into other spaces as in Arc, and fixes for back swipes, tab reloads, Sync pairing, updates and Gemini sign-in.
Added
AI in Yab
Settings › AI starts with one switch. When Asked keeps ⌘J and selected text, with no rows in the field and nothing in the background. Off hides AI everywhere and sends nothing to a model, Apple Intelligence included.
Outside agents
Claude Code and others driving Yab through yab and MCP have their own switch, in Settings › AI › Agents, and the AI switch leaves them alone.
From the field
Type Turn Off AI, Turn On AI or AI Only When Asked in ⌘T. Hide AI Rows in Field puts away Ask, Task and ⇥ asking, and ⌘K on an Ask or Task row does the same.
Move to another space
Drag a tab onto a space's dot to carry it there, as in Arc. Hold it to spring the space open, drop it in place, and ⌘Z puts it back.
Page rows
Over a page, the field can list that page's own commands and errors. Pick which in Settings › Field.
Improved
Before you connect
With no plan connected and no Apple Intelligence, ⌘J, Ask About This and the chat stay out of the way. Set up Yab in the empty field has Connect Claude or ChatGPT.
DevTools font
Elements, Console, Network, Sources and the other panels use the Fixed-width font from Settings › Websites › Fonts › Customize…, and follow it when it changes. Left at Default, code stays in SF Mono.
Folders
A shut folder that shows its open tab marks it with dots, as in Arc. Point at it and press the minus to hide it.
Closing tabs
⌘W takes you back to the page you were on before, as in Arc, and never to an agent's tab.
Private windows
Private windows have the same address field as other windows.
Clipboard History
Long text wraps and scrolls in the preview, and a copied color shows its value beside a swatch.
Extensions
When an extension asks for more access, one card lists each permission on its own line.
Field
Results run under the buttons at the field's bottom and fade at its edge.
Shortcuts search
Press a shortcut in Settings › Shortcuts search to find what it does.
Agents
An agent asks before using the tab you're looking at, instead of refusing it.
Settings
Settings › AI has clearer groups, and Let agents use Yab is also in Settings › Developers.
Fixed
Gemini sign-in
When Google shows a code to paste, Yab now has a field for it.
Updates
Check for Updates on Stable offers only Stable builds, and a waiting update is replaced by a newer one.
Picture in Picture
A floating video no longer takes the keys you type into another app.
Links
A link aimed at a named window brings that window's tab forward, as in Chrome and Safari.
Sign-in windows
Sign-in popups that cross sites, such as Superhuman's Google sign-in, finish loading.
Downloads
Saving an image from a page frame works, and downloads finish cleanly.
Spaces
Renaming a space shows its icon, not the icon's name.
Sidebar
A space keeps its scroll position when you switch back to it.
Back and forward
Swiping back and forward works reliably with two fingers and on Magic Mouse.
Tab reloads
Tabs in the background reload less often.
Sync
Two Macs pair with a code reliably, and a new Mac can enter a code from another Mac.
Full screen
fn+F enters and leaves full screen.
Appearance
Yab follows the system's light or dark appearance unless you choose a theme.
PDFs
More PDFs open at their normal size.
Screen sharing
Sharing a screen goes on to macOS's picker when Yab can't list screens.
Picture in Picture
Picture in Picture works on more video sites.
Typing
Typing in the address field no longer stalls on a long history.
DevTools
In window mode, Web Inspector opens as one window and closes without flashing the docked panel.
Inspect Element
Inspect Element opens Yab's DevTools on the element you clicked.
Models
Connecting an account keeps the default models you chose.
Moving tabs
Holding a tab over another space opens nothing there until you drop it.
Stability
Fixed a crash when a window resized itself over and over.
