Yab 0.0.9
The Store for boosts and plugins, spaces that slide as in Arc, and tabs that stay awake for hours.
Added
The Store
Small changes to the sites you use, like YouTube without Shorts or Hacker News in larger type. Type store in ⌘T and press ⇥, or browse yetanotherbrowser.com/store. Try one on your page; only Keep adds it.
Boosts in Site Controls
Site Controls lists the boosts kept for a site and what the Store has for it, with Try.
Build It or Ask for It
Nothing in the Store for what you want? Build It with Claude, or Ask for It and others can vote; Yab tells you when someone makes it.
Password managers come pinned
A password manager comes in pinned the first time you add it.
1Password tells how to connect
1Password says how to connect its Mac app to Yab when it can't reach it.
⌥-click opens beside
⌥-click a tab to open it beside the page in front; in a split already, it takes the other half's place.
Plugins with code
Plugins with code in the Store: Skip Sponsors and Dislike Counts for YouTube, Article and Comments for Hacker News, Quiet Replies for X, watches for Amazon prices, GitHub releases and Hacker News mentions, and more. Each is a reviewed release, and its Keep card says what it can do and which sites it talks to.
Improved
Tabs sleep after 4 hours
Tabs sleep after 4 hours unused instead of half an hour, as in Chrome and Helium, and a tab you keep coming back to stays awake. Saving power, the wait is an hour instead of five minutes.
New tabs open next to their page
A link opened in a new tab, with ⌘ or the middle button, by a link that asks for one or by the page, goes right after its page, the next ones after it in the order you opened them, as in Arc; from a pin or a kept tab they line up at the top of today's.
Duplicate stays put
Duplicate puts the copy right after its tab and leaves you where you were, as in Arc.
Peeks from pins
A link that asks for a new tab from a pin or a kept tab opens as a peek over it, as in Arc.
Spaces slide as in Arc
Switching spaces moves as in Arc: the space slides as a page beside the others, two fingers carry it, letting go while moving finishes the way you went, and the window's color slides with it.
Split View as in Arc
Split View works as in Arc: drag a tab over the page and the page slides aside; let go in the middle to open it there. Pins and kept tabs stay where they are, a copy makes the pair, the pinned page in front included.
Folders only among kept tabs
Dragging a tab onto another makes a folder only among kept tabs, never among today's.
Back and forward with tabs on top
With tabs on top, back and forward sit right after the window buttons, and a book in the open tab shows when the page can be read.
Boosts arrive ready
Asking for a change to a site tries it quietly first: a try that doesn't work shows nothing, one that works goes on in your tab with before and after, and Keep keeps it.
Fixed
Space color in the brought-out sidebar
With the sidebar put away and brought out over the page, switching spaces turns its color in step with the slide and the window, as in its place, instead of all at once or behind it.
No error sound on arrow keys
The arrow keys, Home and End no longer play the Mac's error sound on a page, a video that seeks with them included.
Extension buttons after relaunch
An extension's button that did nothing after Yab was reopened works again, NordPass's included: extension workers start afresh at each launch.
Removing an extension clears its data
Removing an extension also removes what it kept, as its card says, so adding it again starts fresh.
Faster ad blocker
The ad blocker checks each page's requests about a third faster, and on sites where it only ever stops a few trackers it checks just those: Mobbin shows its first screen as fast as with the blocker off. Nothing it blocks or hides changed.
Passkeys say they wait on Apple
When a site asks for a passkey, Yab says once that passkeys await Apple, so you can sign in another way.
Offer passkeys stays off
Offer passkeys stays off in Settings until Apple grants Yab the entitlement, and no longer takes a site's passkey sign-in it can't finish.
Sidebar comes out however fast
A put-away sidebar comes out when the pointer runs to the left edge, however fast, and stays out while the pointer is near it.
Brought-out sidebar wears your color
The sidebar brought out over the page wears your Look's color, like the pinned one.
Dia profiles stay apart
Importing from Dia keeps profiles apart: each Dia profile becomes a space of its own, signed in as it was.
Bitwarden without errors
Bitwarden no longer lists errors for its passkey scripts or for a missing Bitwarden app on the Mac.
Shortcuts on every layout
Shortcuts work on every keyboard layout: ⌘Z no longer closes a tab on AZERTY, ⌘[ and ⌘] work on German, Mail's keys work on Russian and Dvorak without switching.
Live streams say Live
On a live stream, the floating video and the sidebar player say Live, or how far behind you are, instead of a wrong countdown; "5m behind" takes you back to live, dragging says how far back you are, an ad inside the stream says Ad · muted, a broadcast that ends becomes a recording, and radio just says Live.
Local network question explained
macOS's question about the local network, asked when X or a call opens, now says what it is for.
Downloads only while downloading
With the sidebar put away, Downloads shows up only while something downloads.
No CLIs at launch
Yab no longer runs the Claude or Codex command-line tools by itself at launch; they run when you connect them or ask an agent, and if macOS blocked one, Yab says so.
Last five tabs stay awake
The last five tabs you were on no longer reload when you go back to them: memory running short and a page grown heavy leave them awake, and memory running out takes them only after every other tab.
Tabs come back scrolled
A tab that slept, or whose page quit, comes back scrolled where you left it.
Spaces slide over the brought-out sidebar
Switching spaces slides in the sidebar brought out over the page too, both spaces from the first move, instead of an empty column until your fingers lift.
Tabs back after full screen
After a page's own full screen, a YouTube video's say, the sidebar's tabs come back at once instead of after a click.
Floating video goes home right
A YouTube video back from the floating window sits in its player again, after an autoplay or an ad moved it while it floated.
⌘Z after closing a tab
⌘Z after closing a tab you typed in no longer quits Yab, and it undoes only the page in front.
Helper app crash no longer quits Yab
An extension's helper app on the Mac, a password manager's say, ending no longer takes Yab down with it.
