Getting started

Install Yab, walk through the welcome, and learn the five keys that do most of the work.

macOS 15.4 or later

Install#

Download Yab from yetanotherbrowser.com and open the disk image. Open yab copies it into Applications and opens it. If you open a copy from somewhere else, it moves itself into Applications first, so it can update itself later. Yab needs macOS 15.4 or later.

The welcome#

The first time Yab opens, a short welcome walks you through the parts worth setting up now:

  • A sample run of an agent at work, on sample data, so you can see what ⌘J does before anything is connected.
  • Your agent. Connect Claude or ChatGPT, on your own plan, or choose Later.
  • Your browser. Bring your pinned tabs, spaces, extensions, passwords, cards, bookmarks, history and sign-ins from Chrome, Arc, Dia, Brave, Edge and others in one go, or Start Fresh.
  • Your look. Tabs across the top or down the side, the page to the edge or on a color, and the color.
  • Only if you want: daily suggestions from your agent, and your Google account, whose one Allow brings your mail, your next meeting and the codes sites mail you.

↩ presses the main button and ⌘[ goes back a step. To see it again, choose Help › Welcome…, or Show Again in Settings › About.

Make it your browser#

So links from Mail, Slack and everything else open in Yab, go to Settings › General › Default browser, press Make Default and choose Use “Yab” when macOS asks. Links from other apps then open in a small window.

The window#

There is no toolbar and no start page: a row of tabs, across the top or down the side, and the page. The address is one key away, ⌘L, and everything else is in the field on ⌘T.
