Hiding parts of a page

Click a cookie banner, an overlay or a sidebar and it’s gone, on that site, for good.

⇧⌘H⌘E
  1. Press ⇧⌘H. The pointer becomes a crosshair and outlines what it is over.
  2. Click what should go. Click as many as you like; ⌘Z brings back the last.
  3. Press esc when you are done.

Or right-click it and choose Hide Element. What you hide stays hidden on every page of that site, from the first frame, before it has a chance to appear and vanish.

Open Site Controls with ⌘E: Hidden here says how many parts you hid on this site, and opens to a row each. Point at a row and that part shows again, outlined, so you can tell what it was; Restore brings it back for good, and Restore All brings back everything.
