Unsubscribe#
⌘U on a list’s mail, or on every row you picked, leaves the list the best way it offers: one click, with no cookie or sign-in of yours sent, when it allows; else a mail from you that says Unsubscribe; else its own page, in a peek, to finish there. The threads are marked done, and the corner says “Unsubscribed from Lumen Weekly”. ⌘Z brings the threads back, though you stay unsubscribed.
When more of that list’s mail is in your inbox, the field offers the rest: Mark Done or Move to Trash, with how many threads. esc leaves them.
Block a sender#
⌘K on a mail offers Block with its sender’s address, and Block Everyone at their domain, when it isn’t one everyone uses, like gmail.com. The thread goes to the Trash, and so does their new mail as it comes; ⌘Z takes both back. Marking a mail as spam with ! offers Also Block in the corner, and to quiet one thread rather than a sender, mute it with ⇧M.
Blocking works on this Mac, not as a Gmail filter, so their mail still arrives in Gmail’s own apps. Settings › Mail lists who you blocked, under Blocked; right-click one to unblock them.
Get Me To Zero#
Choose Get Me To Zero in ⌘K and pick how old: Older Than a Day, Older Than a Week, Older Than a Month or Everything, each with how many threads it takes. Under them, Unread Threads and Starred Threads say whether those are left in the inbox or marked done too, and ↩ turns each. ↩ on a time marks them all done at once, and one ⌘Z brings them all back. While Gmail is still hearing of it, the list’s head says how far it has got.
Bulk Actions#
Bulk Actions… in ⌘K lists the week’s big clean-ups: Get Me To Zero, and a sender’s mail cleared after unsubscribing or blocking. ↩ on one puts back exactly the mail it moved, days after you did it.
