On the Page

Find, zoom, print and more

The everyday things: find on the page, zoom, print, swipe back, and what a site may use.

⌘F⌘P

Find on the page#

⌘F opens a small bar in the corner with the count of matches. ↩ goes to the next, ⇧↩ to the one before, and ⌘G and ⇧⌘G work from anywhere. Each tab keeps its own search.

Zoom#

⌘+ and ⌘- zoom in steps of 10%, and ⌘0 goes back to actual size. Each site keeps its zoom.

⌘P prints the page, fitted to the paper. To save a PDF, choose it from the PDF menu in the print sheet.

Back and forward#

Swipe sideways with two fingers: a disc comes in from the edge and names the page you’ll go to. Keep pulling for the pages before it, then the tab this one came from, then its history. Press and hold the Back or Forward button for the same list. Where the page scrolls sideways itself, a map or a carousel, the swipe is the page’s.

What a site may use#

When a site asks for your camera, microphone or location, a card asks you, with Remember for this site if you want it kept. With the address bar on, the lock shows what the site was allowed and its connection, and forgets an answer so it asks again. Settings › Privacy › Camera and microphone forgets every site’s at once.

A website that tries to reach an app on your Mac, like a server you run on localhost, or a device on your network, like a printer or a router, asks first, as in Chrome. Allow is kept for the site and shown in the same place. Your own local pages, links to them and sign-ins that come back to them never ask.

Right-click#

  • On an image: Open Image in New Tab, Copy Image, Download Image, Copy Image Address.
  • On selected text: Search with …, in a tab beside this one, and your commands.
