Everything in Yab starts in one field. ⌘T opens it over the page for somewhere new, and ⌘L opens it with this page’s address. Type an address and you go there; type words and you search; type a few letters and it finds what you mean.
What it finds#
- Open tabs, in every window. ↩ switches to the tab instead of opening it twice.
- Pages you have been to, the ones you went to on purpose first, and the address it thinks you mean, written in gray after your letters. ⇥ takes it.
- Commands, such as Reading Mode, Split View or Pin Tab, and Settings pages, by name.
- Answers: sums, units, currencies, times and dates.
- Quick Actions, a match from your clipboard history, and a search, always.
- Under your words, three rows: the search, Ask Claude, answered right in the field, and Task for Claude, a task in tabs of its own (ChatGPT, if your tasks run there). What the words read as comes first: a question puts Ask on top,
how long to boil an egg, and a task the task, find flights to lisbon.
With nothing typed, the field shows what you’re likely to want now: a link you just copied, your next meeting, recent tabs and the sites you open most.
Keys#
After ⌘L, ↩ opens in this tab; after ⌘T, in a new one. Over a page, the empty field offers this page’s own actions: copy its link, copy a Markdown link, duplicate it.
Actions#
The foot of the field shows what ↩ will do and Actions ⌘K. Press it for everything you can do with the row you are on: copy its link, open it in the background, close a tab, move it here, forget a page. The actions list has a search of its own.
Places#
Some lists live inside the field. Type the start of a place’s name and press ⇥, or use its key. Inside, ⌘P changes the filter and esc goes back.
clip ⇥autofill ⇥chats ⇥In a private tab#
The field turns dark and says Nothing here is kept. It suggests nothing, offers no clips and remembers nothing you type.
